Since the move of our code base and review process to Github about a year ago, it felt more and more natural discussing code changes directly on github.com. The next logical step was to move our issue tracker to Github, too, in order to have more information, communication and tools at one place.
The original advantages of Jira – a better overview for release managers and teams through the agile boards – have become a smaller deal since the Github ecosphere caught up with tools and add-ons. Most recently, they also announced great new collaboration and management features like Github Reviews and Github Projects.
Neos Team member Johannes Steu took the lead on preparing the move of our issues to Github and pressed the button earlier this morning. Now all the content has been migrated and jira.neos.io serves as a read-only archive in case anyone needs it.
Thanks to the great work to Johannes and everybody else involved in the move, to Atlassian for providing us with sponsored licenses for Jira and to Github for offering a new home for little bugs.
If you have any questions or comments regarding the move, feel invited to post them on this thread in our forum.
