One of the most important topics we've discussed and decided during the sprint in Dresden was the release strategy for Neos.

A solid release plan and strategy is important for developers, customers and users. It increases the trust in the product and the people behind it. Gone are the times where you weren't sure when a certain feature or bug fix would be released!

From now on, Neos will follow the semantic release versioning scheme, which allows you to estimate the effort it takes to upgrade to a new version, as well as the possibility to automatically update without having to worry about errors due to needed code migrations.

Each release will be provided with 1 year of bugfixes and 1 additional year with security fixes, so 2 years of support in total.

Say "Hello!" to Neos LTS

An important part of Neos' release strategy is the release of a Long-Term-Support Version of Neos once a year. The LTS release type will gain the benefit of being supported in the longer run. The LTS will get bugfix patches for 2 years and 1 year of security relevant patches, so in sum, this results in a LTS version being support for 3 years after the initial release.
