Ökokiste – E-Commerce for organic farms
About the customer
The Ökokiste farms deliver fresh fruit and vegetables, meat products, dairy products and much more directly to your door. More than 60,000 households have already been won over: families, single people, working people, pensioners, as well as entire companies, nurseries and schools. Every Ökokiste subscriber is fully committed to an ‘organic’ lifestyle. This is certainly true of the Firsching family and their Boßhammersch Hof farm. As part of this group, the Firsching family understands the needs and wishes of their colleagues and friends inside out. They are the founders of 360ff and, as such, the driving force behind the white-label shops.

About the project
Since 2017, Sandstorm has developed a scalable white-label e-commerce platform for Ökokiste, a network of organic delivery businesses across Germany. The Neos CMS-based system now powers more than 60 individual shops, each with its own self-branded design, yet sharing common infrastructure, maintenance, and updates. Beyond a standard shop, the platform includes industry-specific features like a shared recipe database and an easy item-swap function in the cart, both designed to reduce order cancellations. Today, over 60,000 customers order through the system, and the servers handle more than 10,000 orders on an average weekend.
How Neos made the difference
Fewer Cancellations Thanks to a Smart Recipe Database: Lesser-known fruit and vegetable varieties no longer go unused in the box: the central recipe database shows customers matching recipes for their items directly in the cart. Because recipes are automatically linked to each business's specific product range and only include items currently available for delivery, cancellations drop noticeably and cart value increases through cross-selling.
Individual Branding on Shared Infrastructure: Each of the more than 60 connected organic delivery businesses can freely adapt logo, colors, fonts, and design elements to match its own corporate identity — yet all shops run on a jointly maintained Neos instance. Individual icons, font colors, font sizes, menu colors, and the styling of tiles, sliders, buttons, and even divider lines can be configured per business. This significantly reduces the maintenance burden for each individual business without losing the brand identity of the respective farm.
Fast Rollout of New Shops: Setting up a new online shop, including a full website relaunch, takes only two to three weeks instead of several months. New organic businesses can therefore join the network quickly and immediately benefit from a stable system already used by more than 60,000 customers.
Technical Highlights
The project is built on Neos CMS and the Flow framework, allowing content management and the shop system to work together seamlessly — a separate "go to shop" button becomes unnecessary, since the shop menu is fully integrated into the CMS. Behind the scenes, more than 60 parallel Neos instances currently run, each individually configured but centrally maintained. This enables automated updates — including Neos upgrades — across all instances in under an hour. The infrastructure is built for high load: on an average weekend, the servers process more than 10,000 orders, monitored through comprehensive tracking to ensure stable operation. AI is also used, for example for shop search and automatic alt-text generation for product images, and the shop is fully optimized for mobile devices.
