About the project
As part of the website relaunch for Dresdner Sportclub 1898 e.V., a new UX/UI concept was developed and implemented on Neos CMS between 2023 and 2024. The site features a multi-level mega-menu for intuitive navigation, plus a role-based permission system built on the Sandstorm Neos ACL package, giving editors access only to their relevant areas. Dedicated event modules and automated, collection-based photo galleries round out the content management. Built with Neos, TypeScript and SASS, the result serves both editors across the club's 11 departments and external visitors, including members and prospective members.

How Neos made the difference
Efficient integration and event management with Neos: During the technical implementation of the club’s website using Neos CMS, we faced several specific challenges. A key priority was the integration of the club’s various departments, each of which wanted to consolidate their own events and news on the homepage. This required careful planning and implementation.
The website also features various events modules that enable both competition timetables and other events to be managed and displayed. This functionality is particularly important for organisation and communication within the club.
Intuitive navigation and flexible rights management: Another distinctive feature of the website is the extensive mega-menu, which comprises numerous levels and enables intuitive navigation through the site’s extensive content. We have also introduced media galleries organised as ‘Collections’. This means that all images within a Collection are automatically displayed in an image gallery, which significantly simplifies the maintenance and management of media content.
Given the large number of people editing content on the website, it was essential to implement a flexible rights management system. To this end, we used the Sandstorm Neos ACL Package, which allows us to define dynamic roles and permissions for numerous editors. This ensures that every user has access to the necessary functions and content in line with their responsibilities and tasks, whilst at the same time maintaining the security of the website.
The technical implementation using Neos CMS has thus created a robust and user-friendly platform that meets the association’s specific requirements and enables effective content management.

„We are extremely satisfied with the support we received from Sandstorm during the relaunch of our website. They provided us with expert advice and consistently thought outside the box to deliver a sustainable and professional solution. Furthermore, it was always clear that they were just as keen on the success of our relaunch as we were. Communication with the team was always pleasant, reliable and focused on achieving results. We can wholeheartedly recommend Sandstorm and look forward to continuing our successful collaboration.“Grit Karchow,
