The UI can be changed easily, currently a bootstrap based interface is distributed with the package.

Include it into your project as kaystrobach/news via packagist.

Features

It's possible to define a DateTimeRange for each news in which it is displayed.

Additionally each news can have multiple Documents, and / or images attached.
