On 25 October 2024, the first Neos Barcamp took place in Dresden - a day that brought the Neos community together and provided space for numerous exciting presentations and intensive discussions. At the BioInnovationsZentrum Dresden, the home of Sandstorm, developers and interested people came together to learn and discuss in a relaxed atmosphere.
Session planning and a colorful mix of topics
The day began with open session planning, which quickly resulted in a varied agenda. Some highlights of the topics were:
- Hexagonal Architecture - How can the maintenance-friendly structure be optimal implemented for e.g. Neos projects?
- Neos & Laravel - The synergies and possible use cases of the two systems were discussed in detail.
- Neos CoBot - A look at innovative automation options and the new ‘colleague’ in the Neos ecosystem.
Plenty of interesting Discussions
Exciting discussions developed over the course of the day, including the sense and nonsense of AI tools for developers. Opinions clashed here: while some saw AI as a practical tool, others expressed concerns about its dependency. This open discussion provided plenty of impulses and showed how different the perspectives in the community are.
A spaceship with Neos 9!
A highlight was the presentation by Bernhard, who spoke about his pet project: controlling a virtual spaceship with Neos 9! Neos 9, the highly awaited next major version of the CMS, is about to be released, and Bernhard gave an impressive demonstration of what is possible with it. It was great fun to see this creative application of Neos and to get a preview of the new possibilities of version 9!
