About the Neos core team
The Neos core team consists of many independent individuals who are actively contributing to Neos. Each has their own focus and specialty. Together with the Neos community they push the project forward. This includes the organisation of Neos events, contributing code, writing documentation, managing the websites & services used by the community and much more.
Each member works on Neos in their own free time or get paid by their employers or customers to work on the Neos project. For some topics crowd fundings or budgets from the general Neos funding platform make it easier for team members to spent time on maintaining the system or implementing new features.
The team is divided into 3 sub teams. These sub teams make it easier to organise weekly meetings and allow the team members to have a more personal relationships with each other and often very personal experiences are shared and members help each other. Because we love transparency you can find the protocols of the teams weekly meetings in our forum.
Projects are usually not contained in a single sub team but are done across all teams by the people who are interested in the topic and often also together with non team members of the community. This excludes the release of a new Neos & Flow version. Those are done every 4 months by a sub team in rotating order. The designated sub team decides who the release manager will be and coordinates all necessary steps.
For topics like marketing, operations, search, SEO and many other there is the concept of „guilds“. These „guilds“ are more topic driven and are also represented in Slack with their own channels. People from the team and the community are free to join and leave and sometimes one topic is pushed more than the others.
New team members come from inside the community and are very actively contributing individuals. The way to become a core team member usually involved getting to know other team members, joining sprints in person and sharing the spirit of the team. At some point someone in the team feels the person would fit well. Discusses the invitation with the rest of the team and then invites the candidate and answers any question they might have.

Council
The council is the last authority in case of dispute, direction or decision taking. It should be the last resort to call the council.
